Scaling and root planing is a non-surgical treatment for periodontal disease that is similar to a deep cleaning. Bacteria and plaque are removed from the tooth surfaces with hand tools and ultrasonic instruments, even below the gum line. Since roots can incur rough patches due to damage from the bacteria, these surfaces will be smoothed during scaling and root planing, which also will encourage reattachment of gum tissue and shrink periodontal pockets.
Even after you have undergone scaling and root planing or laser gum surgery for periodontal disease, some bacteria will be present in the mouth. Dr. D’Orazio recommends periodontal maintenance in three to four month intervals to control the population of bacteria, preventing future infection.
Teeth can be lost to periodontal disease. When you must replace a full arch, Teeth-in-a-Day™ offers an excellent solution. Teeth-in-a-Day™ restores your teeth in one day. Our doctor uses strategically placed implants to anchor a full prosthetic for permanent teeth restoration. Teeth-in-a-Day™ prosthetics are natural looking and easy to maintain, and can be secured immediately after implant surgery.
The All-on-4® method of tooth restoration allows our doctor to place four titanium posts as a foundation for a beautiful, custom designed prosthesis. One of the major benefits of the All-on-4® method is that it can usually be performed even when bone density is limited, giving you a brand new smile without the need for additional bone grafting procedures.
